Stellan Skarsgård Likely To Appear In Infinity War But Not Ragnarok

With Thor: Ragnarok well into filming, most of the cast has been spotted or confirmed by this point so it’s no surprise to hear that Stellan Skarsgard‘s Dr. Selvig will not be making an appearance in the film. According to LRM Online, Skarsgard confirmed that he will not appear in the 3rd Thor film, but did reveal that he would likely to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

When talking to Skarsgard for his upcoming Norwegian crime-thriller In Order of Disappearance (in theaters and VOD on August 26), he said that he doesn’t known anything for sure yet but thinks that it’s likely you’ll see him in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, if only to finish up his current contract, although he half-joked they would probably have to pay him more money.

Again, the fact that Skarsgård won’t be back for Ragnarok isn’t surprising. Earlier this year, the actor himself wasn’t certain when he’d return, only citing that Marvel had the option to bring him back for the third Thor installment. With Ragnarok set to be “cosmic road trip” of sorts, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see many – if at all any – Earthbound characters pop-up in the film. Much like with Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury, I’d expect to see Skarsgård’s Dr. Selvig play a role in the next two Avengers films.

Thor: Ragnarok, which will be directed by Waititi, stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Also appearing in the film are Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Surge, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Ragnarok will hit movie theaters on November 3rd, 2017.

Until then, you can follow along here for any and all updates concerning the movie.
