MCU Weekly Pulse: Zendaya Talks ‘Homecoming’, Russo Brothers Tease ‘Infinity War’

Welcome to the MCU Weekly Pulse, a rundown of all the stories throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we didn’t cover in News or Features this past week.

Behind The Scenes of ‘Doctor Strange’

Last week, we saw a simple moment with Tom Holland in front of a green screen for Spider-Man: Homecoming. This week, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson shared a similar moment, with him in front of a green screen having a quiet moment (without creepy shadows).

And as if Derrickson’s social media postings weren’t exciting enough, Entertainment Weekly has announced that they’ll be hosting a special screening of the film at EW PopFest. Here’s more information on that event from EW.

As a special launch for the Los Angeles-based event, EW is offering an advance screening of Doctor Strange on Friday, Oct. 28. Tickets are available as a bonus to the first 300 two-day VIP tickets sold, so get clicking for your chance to be one of the first people to see the film before it hits theaters on Nov. 4.

Doctor Strange will hit the big screen on November 4th.

Charlie Cox Ready For ‘The Defenders’

Last weekend, Charlie Cox saw thousands of fans, hitting both Dragon Con in Atlanta and Fan Expo in Toronto. While there, he took a moment to pose with the other male Defenders, giving us a general idea of how this combination is going to look when The Defenders hits Netflix sometime in 2017.

Iron Fist, which will follow Luke Cage, should be wrapping up production in the next month or two and then filming on The Defenders should follow shortly thereafter.

Zendaya Talks ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Zendaya mentioned that she’s going back to work on Spider-Man: Homecoming, soon.

During a post-photo shoot interview, Zendaya had this to say about Spider-Man:

“As soon as I get back home I go out and start doing Spider-man, which I’m very excited about because I’ve been wanting to break into a different space of the acting world for a long time.”

The Russo Brothers Tease Pre-Production On ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

We’re still some time away from production on the next two Avengers films officially kicking off, however, that hasn’t stopped Joe and Anthony Russo from taking to their social media accounts to tease the upcoming production. Yesterday, to the delight of fans everywhere, they updated their Facebook cover photo with the hand-written Infinity War title (shown below). It’s nothing fancy, but it’s one step closer to production, and one step closer to Thanos facing off against our MCU heroes.

Following that small tease, they posted a photo of them during rehearsals. Note the man in the purple mo-cap suit sitting on the stage.

Zooming in on that photo, it appears that the Russo brothers are working with Thanos himself, Josh Brolin.

(Cue the Thanos is still sitting memes!)

Cheo Hodari Coker Shares Behind The Scenes ‘Luke Cage’ Photos

Luke Cage showrunner, Cheo Hodari Coker, has been quite the busy man. After taking SDCC by storm a couple months back, Coker has been using his Twitter account to hype the upcoming series, while also making the press rounds in between. This week, with all of the episode titles having since been revealed, Coker decided to post some behind the scenes photos that were taken during filming earlier this year.

Shades actor Theo Rossi later took to Instagram to announce that the premiere for the upcoming series is set to take place on the 28th, two days before the show’s debut on Netflix.

With all of the great reviews hitting for Luke Cage, it’s hard not to become even more excited as we near closer to the end of the month. Will you be binging Luke Cage? Or stretching out the season as long as possible?

James Gunn Has Some Fun On Social Media This Week

Guardians director, James Gunn, who is always very interactive with fans online, took some time to goof off with some of his Marvel family this week. Not only did he get into another playful converation with Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi, but Gunn also messed with fans when he teased a Star-Lord beheading during Chris Pratt‘s recent Q&A session on Twitter.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is going to have a tiny version of Groot, but it was recently announced that this tiny Groot will still have the voice of Vin Diesel. Director James Gunn reacted to fans that have been questioning him about how Diesel will be able to voice the tiny version of his larger character.
