It’s been a busy week for the MCU! With Spider-Man: Homecoming starting to film in Atlanta, Iron Fist continuing to film in NYC, Daredevil winning awards, and the rest of the MCU jumping in with random moments of excitement. With that said, let’s jump right into the excitement of the MCU Weekly Pulse, a rundown of all the stories throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we didn’t cover in News or Features this past week.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Passes The Torch

Last week, Director James Gunn announced the end of filming for each actor, as they wrapped up production for Guardians Of The Galaxy 2. According to a long heartfelt announcement on Gunn’s Facebook page, he celebrated the end of filming by having dinner with cast members Chris Pratt and Michael Rooker. The results were a bit sentimental.

Last night I celebrated the wrap of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with a small dinner with Chris Pratt and Michael Rooker. We went around in a circle, sharing our most memorable moments from making the film. Our moments all consisted of human connections: the connections made between actor and actor, between actor and director, between us and the crew. They were the laughs we shared. There were those inspired moments of unity where it seemed as if something larger than us had taken over.

The director goes on to talk about the magic on set when his nephew came to visit, and to thank the crew that helped make it all possible. But he wasn’t the only grateful team member at the end of filming. Michael Rooker returned the thanks, literally, by re-addressing Gunn’s “Thank You” card back to the director, along with some other gifts to celebrate the end of filming.

Gunn passed the torch from Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 to the next film on the Pinewood Studios lot via a picture with Spidey himself, Tom Holland, on his Facebook page.

Spiderman Kicks Off Filming

Spider-Man-Close-1

Now that the torch has been passed to Tom Holland for the start of Spider-Man: Homecoming filming, there has been a flurry of news and pictures, which we have posted throughout the week. With a younger cast than most MCU ventures, there seems to be more behind-the-scenes snippets on social media, starting with Holland showing that Peter Parker had, indeed, arrived on set.

Laura Harrier, who’s role in the film is still undisclosed, tried to get in the Spidey spirit, but perhaps doesn’t have an appetite for her web-flinging cast-mate.

Hopefully as production goes on, the actress can get some more appetizing cookies. We look forward to whatever other backstage excitement the cast shares as production moves along!

Thor: Ragnarok Gears Up For Filming

Spider-Man: Homecoming isn’t the only MCU movie to be filmed this summer. On the other side of the globe, Thor: Ragnarok is getting ready to start production on the Gold Coast of Australia. We reported this morning that the set construction has begun, but throughout the week a couple of actors have dropped hints that they are showing up for work, as well. Mark Ruffalo, who will be returning as The Hulk, has already started throwing punches at Tom Hiddleston, who will be returning as Loki.

Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, revealed that he was with director Taika Waititi, and it looks like everything is going lovely.

I am sure there will be many more snippets from Australia as this project gets moving, and we will be sure to bring them all to you here at the MCU Exchange.

Daredevil Honored By Got Your 6 And Buried In Pops

DD, Punisher, and Elektra

The inaugural Saturn Award for Best New Media Television Series wasn’t the only honor for Daredevil this week. The “Got Your 6” organization recognized television shows for their portrayal of veterans, this week, and included Daredevil in the mix. According to Indie Wire, the show was honored for Jon Bernthal‘s portrayal of Frank Castle in Season Two, Episode 7: “Semper Fidelis.”

“Marvel’s Daredevil” (Season 2, Episode 7) – “This episode of the Netflix original series responsibly and accurately portrays veterans via the character of Frank Castle, The Punisher, who insists that his legal representation not perpetuate veteran stereotypes of PTSD in order to defend his actions.”

Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, found himself in a wealth of devils when he asked for some Funko Pops to share with hospitals and schools.

That’s a problem we would all like to have. Charlie looks like he can handle it well enough.

As usual, the Daredevil promoters have continued to come with with art for the series, releasing this red-toned call-back to season one.

Jessica Jones Versus Luke Cage… Kind Of

Elsewhere in Hell’s Kitchen, two of our other Netflix MCU characters were in the gym together. While the question is posed as “Which is stronger?” It’s pretty hard to tell.

The first season of Jessica Jones is available to stream on Netflix now, while Luke Cage is set to hit Netflix in September.

Iron Fist

Iron-Fist-Banner-2-1

Finn Jones teased some Iron Fist this week through his Instagram, showing a baseball cap with the Iron Fist logo. It is cruel to show this to us without having a way to buy one right now.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gearing Up For San Diego Comic-Con

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. may be on hiatus for the moment, but as the hype for San Diego Comic-Con gears up, the show has made sure not to be forgotten. A fire-filled bus advertisement was seen in San Diego this week, reminiscent of the dark times at the end of season three.

Given that sites have been reporting this could mean Ghost Rider for season four, it’s probably worth reminding everyone that Hellfire was in the third season and is more than likely back for season four – hence the chain promo.
