‘GotG Vol. 2’, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, and ‘Captain Marvel’ Footage Descriptions Have Surfaced

Yesterday during a shareholder meeting, Disney unveiled footage from many of their upcoming film projects, including Star Wars Episode VIII, Frozen 2, and Coco, as well as several projects from Marvel’s Phase 3. Footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok was shown, as well as a piece of concept art for Captain Marvel. A fan has provided /Film with a description of the footage that was shown. First up, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:

Some clips from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Baby Groot sitting in a seat on the Milano as Star-Lord yells back “Groot, put your seatbelt on!”, a shot of Rocket with a gun, another shot of Rocket flying a ship and talking about how they’ll really be able to jack up their prices as two-time galaxy savers.

This footage sounds pretty much identical to the most recent trailer, so it isn’t too much to get excited about. However, another scene shown at the meeting is one that we definitely haven’t seen before:

He showed a clip from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Baby Groot in red Ravager outfit walking slowly with his head down, his steps squishy. He seemed sad. He gets close to a cell holding Yondu and Rocket. Yondu yells “Hey Twig, come here.” After Baby Groot walks over, Yondu and Rocket explain to him how to break them out. Yondu takes his Ravager badge off his coat and gives it to Baby Groot and tells him to take it up to a room where that will open a drawer with a key. Groot takes the badge and puts it on his head, all sad. Rocket then interprets that Groot thought he wanted him to wear it as a hat and that made him sad because he doesn’t like hats and thinks people think he has a funny-shaped head. Rocket asks Groot if that’s why he is sad.

Baby Groot sounds almost unbearably adorable, but as we saw in the first Guardians, he can be a bit of a liability during prison escapes. The Disney sizzle reel also included several shots from Thor: Ragnarok, which are described below:

A shot of Cate Blanchett as Hela from Thor: Ragnarok, holding Mjolnir from the top, with the handle horizontal and extending away from her. Several shots of Thor and Hulk, both in gladiator garb, as seen in EW photos. Also, a shot of Thor putting his helmet on and turning side pieces of helmet from horizontal to vertical.

Two things jump out here: Hela can pick up Mjolnir, and Thor’s wearing his helmet! This is yet another piece of evidence that points to the fact that this Thor movie will be much different from its predecessors. Finally at the shareholder meeting, a piece of concept art for Captain Marvel was shown, featuring Carol Danvers in costume. Carol has had a few different styles in the comics, going through a few different costumes and hairstyles. Fans have been anxious to hear what Danvers will look like when Brie Larson plays her on the big screen, but it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer. The fan only described the art as “an action pose of her in the air, about to hit someone,” so until more specifics are made available we’ll have to be content with that.

Which project from Marvel’s Phase 3 are you most excited for? Sound off in the comments below!
